Introduction
In September 2008, I was invited to contribute a regular cartoon strip to the free, monthly newsletter that was produced and distributed for the village where I lived - Farrington Gurney, in Bath and North-East Somerset, U.K. The publication was called "The Gurney Journal" and my strip was meant to be about a ficticious, local character, but I decided to write and draw about a whole family - whom I named "The Villigers"
I continued to write and draw this cartoon strip until two things happened: The "Gurney Journal" ceased publication in October 2012 - just as my wife and I were about to move away from the village anyway. I prepared my final, three episodes in advance of my move, in which I "wound-up" the storyline and had the ficticious family move to Australia. Unfortunately, "The Gurney Journal" ceased publishing one month before the storyline completed, so the poor inhabitants of Farrington Gurney were left never knowing how the story ended!
I decided to publish this Blog, where I've included every episode - from the first two, which were three frames long; then the rest, which I shortened to two frames long in order to look big enough to read on the A5 pages; and finally to the 'missing' last episode, which should have gone out in the November 2012 edition, that never materialised. I hope you enjoy them!
